Rosendal castle

A nice trip would be to drive to Skjersholmane (Stord) and take the ferry to Hardanger, to see the old Rosendal castle, build by the Danish tradesman Ludvig Rosenkrantz and his wife Karen Mowat in 1665. If you want to combine this with a walk to the glacier Bondhusbreen, we recommend to book a night at the camping in Sunndal – dogs allowed. The old road up Bondhusdalen was built to export glacier ice to England, and is a stunningly beautiful walk. If you like to hike all the way up to the glacier or the Norwegian Trekking Association cabin, you may also be able to book a guide to walk on the glacier.
